Chris Tapio is the owner of Legislative Strategies, a public affairs and political consulting firm based in Sacramento. With nearly a decade of experience as a consultant in the legislature, he utilizes his deep understanding of California public policy to help clients succeed in the state capitol, at the local level, and on the ballot.

He has successfully managed numerous political campaigns across California at the state and local levels. He works with business and trade associations to create effective political engagement strategies and public affairs campaigns that extend their reach and strengthen their impact.

Chris serves as an advisor to an influential caucus of pro-business moderate Democrats in the legislature, a role he’s held for over two decades. He also manages a political action committee that raises millions every election to support moderate Democrat candidates.

A familiar figure in Sacramento’s political community, Chris has been recognized multiple times on Capitol Weekly’s list of Top 100 most influential non-elected people at the state capitol.

He serves on the board of the 21st Century Alliance, an organization focused on supporting effective leaders and using best practices from around the world to ensure California's long-term success. 

In addition to his professional work, Chris leads federal advocacy efforts for the Northern California chapter of Breakthrough T1D, a nonprofit dedicated to accelerating treatments and cures for Type 1 Diabetes.

Chris holds a political science degree from the University of California, Davis, and is an alumnus of the Jesse M. Unruh Assembly Fellowship Program.

He enjoys traveling, music, and spending time with his wife and three children at Lake Tahoe’s north shore.
